I will opt for Hindi and leave Bhojpuri to Vinaye. I believe his spoken Bhojpuri would be far better than mine. I have chosen the topic 'My country' and will produce a few simple sentences in Hindi about it.

Wow...is that pure Hindi? That was hard for me, even though I watch Hindi movies regularly. I must say that I hear Hindi in the movies and that I rely on the subtitles ....so much so that I probably hear the Hindi as background noise. Anyway, since I could understand the function words, but not the content words, I asked Raniyah, who watches more HIndi movies than me. She said: Let's use Google Translate... which we did. So, I can now say that I have the gist of what you sent us here :)

Not sure if it's pure Hindi. We might need more information wrt etymology to find out. This is just the sort of exercises that we were given as students. Actually when I was going over the sentences again, I noticed a small mistake in sentence (5). It should read:
(5) Mauritius ek swatantra desh hai. (I missed out the 't' in 'swatantra').
I'm not too sure how intercomprehension helps in this case. The words don't overlap with any other word (from any other language) known to us. How can we guess (if we don't have translation support)?

D'avoir pris l'initiative. Je me frotte les mains face à cette aventure linguistique même si elle s'annonce périlleuse pour moi : mes connaissance du hindi se limitent à quelques mots. Donc en dehors du titre (déjà annoncé en anglais) et du préfixe maha, tout le reste se limite pour le moment à des hypothèses ou à l'ignorance totale. Cependant, pour le moment, je n'opterais pas pour "Google translate".
Comme je n'ai même pas l'avantage des assises syntaxiques et/ou morphologiques de Mooznah, cette étape me une bonne motivation pour me plonger (enfin !) dans le "Parlons hindi" qui est depuis quelques années dans mes étagères...

As for no (2), did you mean that I should opt for a topic of conversation that involves both Bhojpuri and Hindi so that Bhojpuri acts like a bridge?

Tu as plutôt bien compris le no (2): tu crées un sujet et interviens soit en hindi ou en bhojpuri (comme Vinaye ne se manifeste pas) et nous interviendrons dans une des trois langues qui nous convient (français, anglais, ou créole mauricien). Ce qu'il me faut ajouter : si quelqu'un d'autre veut intervenir en ourdou également, c'est possible aussi car il me semble que le bhojpuri peut servir de "bridge" vers le ourdou (à moins que je sois en train de dire une bétise)...
Pour le no (1), on peut continuer sur le sujet que tu as créé "hindi", mais sous forme de conversation directe, sans que ce soit nécessaire que tu aies recours aux textes de tes premières leçons de hindi. OK ?
Je reste disponible pour plus de précisions si tu le souhaites encore.
