Hello. Most of you know me. I am Mooznah from the Department of English Studies and I have been working at the University since 1998. A few years ago, I participated in an intercomprehension session - Daniella reminded me that it was in 2009 on a platform named GALANET. Over the years, I developed different research interests, but intercomprehension as a practice, rather than as a theory did cross my path.. In 2011 or 2012, one of my students once observed that it was interesting to see my husband communicating with our children. He always talks to them in Kreol and they mostly respond in French. So, I suppose that intercomprehension is an everyday language practice in my family and in many Mauritian families too. It is nice to be here and I look forward to the sessions on the platform.
Très juste Mooznah, de dire que l'intercompréhension est une pratique linguistique quotidienne dans plusieurs familles mauriciennes. Je dirais que c'est une pratique naturelle en contextes plurilingues et informelles. Merci à toi de nous partager un exemple dans ta famille !
Comme je vais participer aussi, et que mon profil est encore un peu trop bref, j'ajoute quelques éléments. Je suis français et je suis en France, en Bourgogne pour être plus précis. J'ai fait une carrière d'enseignant, d'abord en primaire, puis un passage par le FLE en Angola, puis dans le secondaire en France, et enfin à l'université où j'enseignais le portugais. Je me retrouve maintenant responsable de ce site Miriadi, et vous pouvez comptez sur moi pour vous aider en cas de difficultés. J'ai aussi très envie de mieux connaître vos langues et votre pays !

Depuis 2005, j'enseigne au niveau tertiaire. 8 ans à la MCCI Business School comme chargée de cours en "Culture Générale et Expression" et 2 ans au Mauritius Institute of Education où j'enseigne le Kreol Morisien et travaille à la conception/ réalisation de manuels scolaires. J'ai hâte de commencer les sessions! Comme dit plus haut, nous sommes dans une situation quotidienne d'intercompréhension!
Je nai aucun doute que tes interventions susciteront un intérêt particulier surtout concernant ton expérience de formation des premiers groupes d'enseignants du primaire au créole mauricien ! Contente de te retrouver ici.
Hello everyone, I am late to the discussion and I am very sorry about that. Technology hasn't been my best friend lately. My name is Tejshree (Tej for short). I joined the Department of English studies in 2009. I was initiated to the Galanet platform in 2010 thanks to Daniella and although I found it interesting, I have not been as active as I should have. Like most Mauritians, I have experienced intercomprehension and find it fascinating. It is a strategy that is used regularly by family members, especially my 82 year old grandmother. She is a native Mtian Bhojpuri speaker whose grandchildren speak Creole to her. Her great-grandchildren use English. So far, we all seem to manage to understand each other! I look forward to similar instances of intercomprehension.
